Frequently asked questions
Which competitions do the Club enter?
Wrekin Harriers enter the Shropshire Young Athletes League Track and Field competitions, which are over four Thursday evening competitions held during the Summer.
The Shropshire County Track and Field Championships are open meetings for Shropshire athletes, parents enter their children into the events and pay for the individual entry fees.
We also enter the Shropshire Young Athletes Cross Country League during the winter, there are four SYAL league competitions from September to December. Parents whose children do not train regularly at the club will be asked to pay £5 competition entry fee for the League. County Competitions are ‘pay to enter’
Wrekin Harriers enter teams into the Shropshire County Cross Country Championships in January.
In April there is a U11 County Cross Country championships
We do not want parents to use the club solely for competition purposes. Children will benefit from training with their teammates and making friendships away from school. It is therefore important that children attend regular training sessions to feel part of the club. The club need parents financial support via booking sessions to help fund
hiring facilities for training purposes, pay for Shropshire Athletics association affiliation fees for cross country and track and field, buy training equipment, fund coaching courses and pay for England club affiliation fees.

We organise runs at different venues for a variety of training during the cross country season. We sometimes do runs at Haughmond Hill, or Gaskill fields, Much Wenlock.
